I looked at the car when Keith had it for sale. In Jan of 2012 Keith wanted $40k+ and the car had approx. 114,000 miles. It was a bit rich for my blood (with that many miles) but he sold it pretty soon after. Not sure what for. The next time is was for sale by a guy just down the road from me in Menlo Park/Palo Alto area. The guy was selling two GTS's - Keiths car for $30k and a really nice Silver one for $44K. A couple of months later both cars appeared on eBay being sold by a guy in colorado. White one for $33k and the silver one (had 44,000 miles) for $45k. Seems like no one wants to hang onto this white one. Not sure why - at $33k it seems like it was a really good buy. I really don't see it selling at $49K though

Sell the '87. (The '89 was a far superior car from the factory IMHO) Use the proceeds to offset the cost of the GTS.
See? I got it all worked out for you.
Probably need to plan to pull the engine for the GTS to correct whatever the Honda dealer thought needed doing.

I don't know the history of the car. The add says they invested 300+ shop hours into the car. uh, that would be about 8 weeks of a dedicated mechanics time. Not sure what they claim was done, but 8 weeks?
The car sure does look nice from the pics. Maybe 4 weeks was spent detailing!

About half of that time had to be learning what the hell they were supposed to be doing. Or...I hope they bothered to do that!

Despite all the concerns about work done, its still a 5-speed GTS.
If the price can be negotiated down, for a competent 928 DIY'er, this could be an excellent buy.
I would want to check over the engine very carefully before driving it anywhere, as if the engine has issues it needs to be fixed before its no longer a numbers-matching car.

They added intake spacers from 928 Motorsports? Why in the world would they have done that for resale?
In addition, they used a silicone pan gasket for replacement.
This car must have been worked on for a client/customer/employee who then decided they didn't want the car(?)

It would also be interesting to know exactly which motor mounts were used as replacements on this car.
Porsche mounts?
928 motorsports mounts?
Anchor mounts?
Solid mounts?
Volvo mounts?

Definitely lots of holes in this story. Here was his last reply when he sent the docs:
"It took me the whole day to get the Repair order from Service department. This is basically what we've done on the car after we got the vehicle. Let me know who can I assist you? Are you going to come pick up the car or you want to have your tow company get the vehicle."
I could ask the guy some questions, but up to now, all he's wanted to know is when I want to come by for a test drive.
Funny....
