Lightbulb power steering rebuild help

I am curious what is involved with rebuilding a power steering pump from an 86.5 shark. What parts should be replaced. I have never rebuilt a power steering pump, but it looks like I will encounter this one soon.

TIA

John I wish I could tell you for sure!

I READ that it involves changing the seals on the shaft itself....

I changed out my own rack earlier this year with a rebuilt unit. Of course, 928 International, Devek, and 928 Specialists [our friends] all have these in stock. Another friend, though not a Rennlist sponsor is Zims Autotechnic out of Dallas, and I bought a rebuilt rack from them for $275. Of course that was special, and the Big 3 would probably have better deals. And of course they all sponsor our hobby heavily!

John,
I've got a 2 page article on rebuilding a 944 power steering pump that is supposed to be similar to the 928's. File is in MSword around 459Kb..lost your email address but send it to me at jim928@ptd.net and I'll send it to you. This is one of the things that will be on version 2 of the tech pub cds.

Thanks for the replies

Jim check your mail...

As it turns out my power steering pump is not to blame for my harmonic humming sound. I will rebuild a spare power steering pump I have this winter and do a write up on it with pic's and forward it to Tony or Greg.
