Awesome!! Is the plan to keep or sell the car when it's done? The documtstion of the rebuild will boost it's value.

The project and its success are an inspiration to us all! Congratulations and you may retire from doing anymore restorations! Can't imagine any other future restos will top this.

Door glass in, hatch trim reassembled (for the second and final time!), door mirror glass installed and completed, new trim tabs installed, and fuel system pressure tested until it passed.

But this was the real prize, been anticipating this moment for weeks now as we have been getting closer.

Wine and cigars were very fitting!

Fitting to have Anderson present, a 928er's good luck charm as it turned out. A VERY good night in Rob's garage!

I think William will hold onto it for at least a little while- the time invested in it now would be like selling a kid.

The trick to this whole project has been lucking into what was actually a very nice car underneath all the dirt and neglect. I know it sounds like understatement but all Minerva has needed was a thousand hours of cleaning and reconditioning. It helps (a lot!) that Mark and Greg are nearby with the proper parts and the occasional bit of unobtanium.

Speaking of which- we decided to swap condensers back to the proper early round-tube style. Mark brought a couple candidates last night, all are subtly different. Two bare aluminum and one painted black. The two aluminum ones differ in the aluminum channel riveted to the top- one is 'U' shaped (like a cap), while the other is 'S' shaped, the forward lip of the channel points down and the rear points up.

Google images says bare aluminum is correct for '78. Not sure about the 'lip'.
So, fellow 78'ers, what is the shape of the top shield/channel piece on your condensers- 'U' or 'S'?

Minerva was intended as a keeper all along, plans are to keep and enjoy a close to perfect first year 928 for many years.

Big congratulations to you on your Weissach find, WOW! I can't wait to see it when Stan finishes his handiwork. Fabulous find, isn't it great to realize a dream!?

Enquiring minds want to know.

A painter tossed mine about 14 years ago.

And congratulations on firing her up!
