DR,

>928.552.270.04<

That's cool! Is that for the early odd size or the DIN?

80 and up, so I guess it is the DIN, not the 77-79 style?

I forget what year the console trim changes, my '81 came with a non-DIN Bamburg.

Perhaps the plate mounts behind the trim, so it doesn't matter.

I have to order some things anyway, so I'll give it a shot.

That part number shows to be for 80-82. I am pretty sure Porsche shows a procedure in the shop manuals for installing a DIN type in the earlier cars that involves trimming the console. I am not positive the first part number will cover the hole once that mod has been done, but it should.

For 83-up use 9285522700570B, cost is even less $3.66. This one would definitely be for a DIN.

Oh, here is an illustration from PET of what it looks like (same image is used for both part numbers)

While we are at it, look at item "8" on that illustration. That is the switch trim cover used when you do not have a sunroof and rear wiper, part # 92855227702 , cost is $3.41. I am pretty sure I even have one of these in stock.

Man, if I sell 1 of these "expensive" part numbers I am going to take Jeannie out to dinner tonight :-)

Hey! I want the #8. No sunroof and the rear wiper is on the pod for me. There were just holes there but I stuck in two extra, bad, switches. Going onto repair list...

It should be on the front-top of the oil pan on the driver's side just to the right of the harmonic damper. Look for a black rubber boot with two little square 'ears' that covers a triangular plate about 1.5" across mounted on the top of the pan. The connector is under the rubber boot.

Hi Dave,

If you just have "Rear Wiper Delete" OR "Sunroof Delete" (not both) you need part #9286131230470B. This part number is the cover for just 1 switch "hole". The other part # is a cover for 2 side by side switch "holes".

Are there plugs to go into the hatch to cover up where the rear wiper would go? The '78 euro resto I'm doing (not my '79) is going to lose the rear wiper, and porschepete's '84 is losing his too.

Maybe opportunity for a 'kit' of both delete pieces needed?

i couldn't find anything that worked well. the caps i did find were the right size for the hole if it was flat. once the cap was bent to fit the angles sheet metal, it wouldn't stay in the hole.

what i did was removed the mechanism fromt the hatch, leaving the gromets in the holes. i then removed the e-clips that keep the wiper shafts in the mechanism, and removed the shafts. i then reinstalled the machanism (the grommets need to be supported), and plugged the holes in the grommets with door lock plugs from a vw new beetle. they fit the holes and about the same diameter as the grommets. just put them in with a light bead of windshield sealant. i then put a cap in the hole left in the tool panel after the motor removal.

if i ever have the car repainted, i'll have the holes patched and filled...

I have found rubber plugs at most Auto Parts Stores that will plug those holes perfectly.

How about a blank (no buttons) Central Warning plate? Was there a cover plate?
