Early model - 3 point seat belt upgrade
Hi guys,
replacing my rear seats at the moment and came across a mention of 3 point rear seat belts. Would be a perfect time to do it given I've the old ones out, so I'm looking to see if I can get hold of a set.
Does anyone know if the later sets will fit? I'm struggling to find information on it for the early cars. Would be sweet if the automatic/retracting ones would fit but I'm wondering if the unit would be too bulky to fit behind the covers.
I see the 3rd fixing point by the rear window is there.
Anyone done this with one of the early years? Mine is a late 1979.
Kev.

I fitted 3 point non retracting units in the rear of my 83 (in place of 2 points) - mandatory here in Oz. These belts are not hard to get here - local manufacturer. I believe retracts that will fit under the quarter panel are thin on the ground.

Here is a good photo documented write up.

However, there does seem to be some issue fitting the S4 retractable belts into an 78-83 cars. Looks like a bracket has to be fabricated. So a lot of OB guys end up using the non-retractable ones.
