Looks great Jeff! My black '91 S4 is undergoing the same work (and then some) and it will be reassembled by the end of next week......I hope. And then of course the carpet and interior panels need to go in, and, and, and.......... It never ends!

Jeff,

The car looks amazing. They did a very nice job on the prep work, the paint seems complete void of orange peel. Nothing beats a clean black paint job! Are you putting any paint protection on it once the paint has cured properly? I have it on my Audi and I swear by it. No swirl marks after two years, and paint looks as it did from the day it left the factory.

I am putting this on my 928 once it is done: Pinnacle Black Label Diamond Paint Coating, as recommended by Alan (boomboom). Similar to what the Audi dealer sells. Windshield coated with Diamondcoat, which is a "semi-permanent" hydrophobic coating. Lasts about 18-20 months before needing to be re-applied. Highly recommended.

Cheers!
Carl

Very nice Jeff!

What paint system did they use? Glasurit?

The car is looking totally awesome (heard that term before on television).

Maybe, someday, my old blacky will have a fresh coat like yours.

Brian.

I don't know what they used. I'll have to ask.

Jeff, how much prep work did you do before sending it to the shop? Did you disassemble?

And, was this a color change?

Looks beautiful!

That is a fair price for the level of prep and customization to the rear wheel wells. PPG paint is good quality, though I prefer Glasurit on these cars.

Obligatory Ooooooooooo and Su-Weet! It really turned out nice.

I removed the bumpers, lights, side rub strips, wing, mirrors and interior door cards. I sanded much of the flat surfaces as a beginning, they took the rest of the way down to bare metal. They removed lower cladding.

Car was black from factory.

Sorry about the drool on the keyboard, hope it didn't pass through and leave a mark...

I'm stuck in 'preservation class' for a while, but can see where the next steps will be for the car.
