Replacing 928 Seats, Steering Wheel, Etc - What Other Porsche Parts Fit?

One thing to double check - I recall a post somewhere about bolting up 911 seats (either 996 or 997 - don't recall). But there was an issue because the driver's seat was a memory seat and it would not adjust with just a 12V power hookup.
Apparently the passenger seat worked fine but the driver's seat was looking for some additional signal before you could adjust it electrically. I've never tested this myself, just something I ran across when I was researching similar upgrades for my car. Just be advised to do some homework first.

Does anyone know if the 981 seats are also backwards compatible with other Porsches?

MADTURK's car looks awesome. If anyone's 928 can pull off the 997 seats, it's his. Also, Tony in TX put 997 seats (I think the alcantara GT3 versions) into his blue 997 GTS which, he no longer has, but there are plenty of photos of that car on here. He had the embossed or laser etched leather pasha in that car too, which was very cool.
More pics of my 928 Spyder are here - https://1979porsche928spyder.shutterfly.com/pictures
if anyone is interested.

I bought sport seats on eBay. I think they're gonna look great and they'll definitely be a really nice upgrade. The stock seats were very comfortable but I would get pretty butt weary during longer drives. I hope these help.
Does anyone (Madturk) know the best practice to get the electric back rest working on the new seats?

There should be a set of red and brown 16ish gage wires going to the large plastic harness connector. I would simply cut the connector off, run the red to power and ground the brown. Put a fuse inline and you should be good to go. Don't do anything with the airbag wires, just tape those off somewhere where they will be protected and out of the way.

I'm going purely off memory here, and could be totally off base. If someone knows better, please let me know and I'll correct this. I did a quick search and couldn't find what I'm looking for/talking about.
BUT...
I remember someone fitting "other" Porsche seats in a 928, and they found that the rails didn't match up. The bolt holes did, but the rails from the seat didn't fit into the rails in the car properly.
This meant that the only thing holding the seats in place were the bolts. They weren't locking the rails together, they were all that was holding the seats in place. In a collision, those bolts would shear off very easily.

Madturk do you have any feedback on Wisconsin Joe's comment above? Do the rails match up or are just the bolts holding the seat in? Not that these cars would be that safe in a collision anyway but it would definitely make matters worse if the seats sheared off the floor!

I had one of my guys install it. I know no modifications were done and the it fit without issues.
I'll have it checked and post.

It's too late for me potentially because I already bought my sport seats but it would be good for others to know. Thanks for looking into it.

So they must've fit just fine then huh? Any concerns with the rails not matching up like Wisconsin Joe alluded to?

That is awesome. It seems like we have very similar taste. I too have a nav set up that will look almost identical to this one. I'll post some pics later.
