From the /20 to the/22 motor, the fuel injection, ignition, heads, cams, intake & exhaust are all different. There's a reason it makes that much more power. Supposedly, new "S2" cars were put on a dyno and found to make more power than the factory rated them to. Much closer to 330 than 310.
If I understand correctly, the cam gear broke when the pistons and crank were still moving. That means the valves crashed on that side. And since the other cam likely stopped as well, with no tension on the belt, the valves on that side crashed too. Ouch.
So you need a replacement cam and at least several (perhaps "many") new valves.
I'm not sure what all can be swapped between the /20 & /22 motors, but my first idea would be to swap in the /20 motor, keeping the EZF & LH 2.2 ignition & fuel injection systems. I'm not sure that is possible or practical. But it seems to be the simplest (although not most powerful or fun) solution.
That way, you could have the original /22 motor on a stand and fix it as money, parts & time become available.

Can anyone tell me if the huge power difference between my M28/22 (310hp) motor and the M28/20 (235hp) motor is because of the different compression ratio or are the heads different or other?
Sorry for all the questions , but I am trying to get my Shark running as I have yet to enjoy her !

Thanks for the advice. The easiest , or should I say the cheapest would be to swop the heads , but I bought this car for some V8 power. So I am going to have to spend the time and money and get the 310+ hp up and running.
Thanks again to everyone for the tips and info.
