Default Rear Auto Trans Cooler 2.0

6 feet more hose , but less likely to have a close encounter with rocks.

I fabbed up some slick new brackets, which piggy-back the gas tank strap bolts, so no drilling required.

I added a magnetic external filter and a hose protector sleeve.

Pan temps are the same.

Side view/hose detail:

The magnetic filters sold by themselves cost ~$30, but basically the same filter is used on late 80's, early 90's Accords as factory equipment, Carquest #85953 ~$15 (inline auto trans filter, 3/8" hose barb).

Nice Job, I like it better than the other way you had it.

How about this, for a cooler housing?

I was thinking of something like this for mine.

Rear; Trans Oil cooler vents:

Front; Motor Oil cooler vents:

T_Max - nice photochopping! You're on to something there.

I like the use of the fender extensions, they always appeared to me to be just stuck on (as opposed to the early clean fender); it would be nice if they were functional.

I like the idea of using the license plate indent. I had originally wanted to put the cooler in the center, but the the gas tank bolts made it so easy to make brackets, and in hindsight, the air flow is smoother under the gas tank.

Your central cover pic made me start thinking...

Imagine stretching your central cooler cover forward to the differential and out towards the sides to smooth the airflow under the battery compartment and gas tank. NACA ducts underneath would bring air to the cooler.

I'm trying to find a good picture of the rear underside of an F1 car, with a central bump and air channels either side for inverted wing ground effects to illustrate this.

Porken,
I know exactly what your talking about! I have thought about that as well.
Could be done, might get done, just so much to do, so little time.

It's kind of scary when you think about it Someone else that think like me could be a danger to world peace as well as the ozone layer

bcdavis, thats it!

I knew what you were going for, before the pics

I think it could be done, maybe not in the full exstent, but defentetly doable.

Porken, If you do the rear plate/vent, you could mechanize the plate holder to slide down out of sight behind the cover
