Default Black Trim Surrounding Lock

What is the best way to get rid of scratch marks on the black trim ring that surrounds the driver side door lock? I just installed remote control locks so I will not have to use a key ever again on that door.
Any advice is appreciated- please give name of any chemical product and best place to purchase

I just taped them off and repainted them in satin black. Painted them right on the car.

Through the rearward end of the doors, pop off the top-most rubber cap and remove the socket head cap screw that holds the lock cylinder in place, and move the lock cylinder out from the door skin. Surround with painter's tape to protect, then clean up/buff with fine sand paper to smooth, then prime and repaint- self etching primer then SEM trim black:

Self etching primer is key. I made one attempt without it, anticipating that the old paint would be enough of a primer. I got absolutely no adherence. Attempt #2 with the self etch turned out great.

An alternative is the Jager sticker covers. I've had them on the car for at least 5 years now and still look as good as the day I put them on.

The overlays are okay but they come as a "broken circle", so there is a seam. I got some and don't like them for this reason, I can see the seam, however slight. Bugs me.

I am going to paint the surround and the rest of the trim using the methods described in this thread.

I masked mine off with blue tape and then carefully cut around each with a razor blade. Painted them with matte black flexible battery corrosion prevention tray paint as it's pretty tough. I installed electric locks so the only lock that still sees a key is the rear trunk. Turned out very nice. There are pics of the car on a Shutterfly share site if you look in some of my other posts for the link - "Spyder Maiden Voyage" is probably the most unique thread title for quick search results.

As Rob noted, the trick is to move the lock cylinder forward so that you can mask under it.
