Default Why should I care.....

If my 928 goes up in value or gets more popular or if someone recognizes it ? I never bought it as an investment. Matter of fact I bought it when I was drunk and running my mouth ! Didn`t even want it. If it gets popular, everyone will want one and the parts supply will dwindle and get more expensive. I rarely see another pass me on the road and have even told someone its a Nissan 350Z.
I would like things to stay just the same with the 928 market. I`m selfish and secretive and want to be able to enjoy this car I bought in error one night........for a long long time. Just sayin...

Sales/market prices only make a difference if you happen to be buying or selling that day. For most of us the 'buying' decision is now history, and we can't emotionally justify parting with our total 'investment' at such a huge loss.

A sage investor shared that you need to review your portfolio daily, looking for stocks you wouldn't buy that day. Sell those , and use the money to buy stocks that did make your list. I once shared with a group of horrified employee shareholders that I wanted my company stock to be low right up until I was ready to retire, at which time it should go through the roof and fund my retirement. Cars the same way.

When you work on your list of cars, as with other equities, you must factor in 'dividends payed' as well as 'dividends earned', although history is almost ignored in a good equity pick.

If prices are high, mechanics, parts vendors and insurers can charge more for their services. That's generally bad for owners, although it may increase the availability of some parts.

I was thinking 928 owners in general.

Something has to explain getting a 928, or two, or more. Then spending fat money on them and being so happy for the privilege.

Reasonable argument, but the existence of price stickiness makes me doubt that service and parts prices will increase drastically if the values of 928's increase.

I believe this is one of the biggest misconceptions about these cars or any sports car. For the most part...I didn't buy this car to impress folks...l bought this car because its looks impressed me...and I wanted one...or two...or three.

Yes, they are a car that will turn some heads...but that is not why I bought one...or two...or three (man, I have some serious problems after re-reading that...lol).

^^^This. Bought one because I loved it. Was stunned how inexpensive they were when I first looked. I don't mind the values rising, in fact I am happy about it, but that's just me. I do think it will make parts more plentiful - as the cars become more valuable, the after market takes notice and opens up with replacement parts for those hard to find nla things.

You did not say anything different from most current 928 owners who bought the car used and have no intention to have them as investments. With few exceptions, the 928s are NOT investment, at least not good ones. I bought mine used as I could not afford them back then. They are my childhood dream cars and I am sorting my bucket list. They are gorgeous, cool as hell and next to nothing to acquire.

You could say I lucked out on my 928, as I did not know what it was, I knew what a 914 was, I knew what a 911 was, I had a friend that had a 924, I lost a eBay bid on a ragged out 944, but I did not know what model this beautiful Porsche was when I first seen it.
My '85 928 is my Christine.
I'm not an alcoholic, but I AM a 928 addict.
