Default Interior color codes: post here your code with a picture

So....

It is almost impossible to know every interior code applied to 928s....

So I think it is a good idea(I searched for a similar tread but found nothing)to post here the colour code printed on our 928 code sticker with an explanatory picture.

I 'd like to start from my car:SX, marine blue interior .

I really hope this is not a bad idea.

Hi,

The 968 shares many of the same codes for the similar years of production. I've done a lot of work in this area. Follow this link to one of the pages on interior codes with photos on the 968 register site. You can even pull a PDF I have posted there with most of the 968 interior codes. Enjoy.

http://968register.org/interior-codes-statistics/

BTW, SX is a 92-94 968 interior code, marine blue FULL leather seats only.

Interesting ... appears the two-letter combinations are random, but may be shared at least among the front-engined cars. Francesco's "SX" code - a combination of marine blue leather and vinyl - fits both his 928 and a 968.

My car would prob be an "MT", a Light Gray (seats/carpet) and Black (dash, doors, headliner) combination in leather and vinyl.

Would cars with 'deviating' colors have a two-letter combination as a starting point and then one or more option codes that spell out the deviations in colors and material?

I have much more on the interiors. Check out this link:

http://968register.org/north-american-968-interiors/

Three factors go into a two letter code assignment:

Material
Configuration
Color

Your "MT" is:
Full leather
Leather seats only
Light Grey/Black color

You can read about the special interior options here:

That's great info Jeff, thanks for sharing. I had heard the term 'partial leather' before but never knew exactly what it meant.

I think the standard 928 config was "all leather seats" concept ... will check my back seats when I get home tonight (they're out right now) to see exactly what they're covered with.

I'm curious now whether 928s offered the "all leather" interior. I think if you covered anything beyond the seats that would have been via specific individual options.

Thanks, Jeff! This is the first time I've ever seen this. Mine matches your pdf: PL = Light Gray/Cobalt Blue - Lthtte/Leather. I guess somewhere they stopped calling it light gray and started calling it raspberry. At least that's what mine is on today's charts. I should probly add that the door cards and center have been recovered--that's not their stock color.

I'm glad you like the site info! It took me many years to figure it out and collect all the data.

Like what was said earlier, there may not be any such thing as "partial" leather when it comes to the flagship 928 so they start with full leather seats and go from there. As for full leather interior, you can see here...

http://968register.org/interior-mate...configuration/

that the full leather 968 came with specific additional parts covered in leather. It was much more money. not sure what they did on the 928.

I'm still missing a few of the high-end leather codes (they never made a North American 968 with them) so if anyone has one of those i would appreciate it.

Jeff

Wow, that "GK" GT is cool ... looks kinda like "Mahogany" as used in the late 80s? My rear seats are leather btw, so in the parlance discussed here we can say the standard USA 928 was a "full leather" car .

Bruce, good to see your post! I think that "Raspberry" must be some kind of one-off ... "PL" should follow the 968 terminology and be light gray.

the standard USA 928 was a full leather" SEATS car ???

Full leather interior would include the dash, door panels, dash, and even the full e-brake handle. Do you have all those too?

Standard '87-95 was full leather seats and piece above armrest in doors. Rest of the interior was leatherette which means vinyl. Leatherette pieces were made in about half dozen different colors each MY. In case someone wanted to get certain colors they had to get full leather interior as pieces were not made in correct color in leatherette but leather was available in seats. Stock setup for those colors were to have two tone interior in Porsche specified combinations.

Rear quarters, pieces between seats, entire door cards and center console could be had in full leather in all available colors along with dash being leather. Instrument pod in leather was separete option. Sometimes it was black leatherette while rest of the interior up to roof panel was coverer in leather.

On '88-95 it was possible to get softer M980 ruffled leather on seat centers on all available colors.

Cloth on seat centers and in piece above armrest was most likely no cost option in all matkets. In each year there were several different styles of cloth available in several different colors. Rest of the seats were leather on these also, not leatherette.

All this for '87-95. On earlier MY's there were other possible combinations.

MX is leather seats in classic grey and rest of the interior in same color leatherette. Carpets are also in same color.
PZ is leather seats in magenta and rest of the interior in same color leatherette. Carpets are also in same color.

Both of mine have M980 option.

Odd, I have an '89 MY USA brochure that claims 'draped leather' is introduced in that MY. But have seen several pics of cars with it from '88
