I'm a white haired old physician and do the 928 thing as a hobby. Weekend warrior too, I guess. I like technical stuff

There are a couple of blue/black wires under the console, and a number of them under the pod. If you are looking for instant gratification, you can splice any of them assuming they get current when the headlight is switched on to the source wire(s) that you are seeing that feed the instrument panel.

Make sure you splice them well, heat shrink them, etc...
