I have the 18" Carrera Lightweights (or maybe they're the Careers IIIs) on my Spyder. I have different wheels I'll be going to but was going to leave these on for awhile until I burn up the Yoko tires, which still have a good bit of tread left. If someone is interested, for the right price, I could probably be talked into selling them earlier than I had planned. They're straight and look good, but are by no means perfect.

There are a bunch more photos on a Shutterfly share site here - https://1979porsche928spyder.shutterfly.com/pictures/5

Let me know via PM or email (petza914@gmail.com) and I can provide widths, offsets, and tire info.

On the inside of the flat dish rims, there are forged lines that exactly match the cutouts of club sports.
I noticed them many years ago, and have always wondered if anyone has ever machined those out.

I saw a reference on this forum some time ago about someone who had done this, maybe to several wheels. I suspect it was a long time ago. You might try a search. I have not done it, but I have given it some thought several times. I think I have reached the same conclusion each time and that is first that my milling machine may be too small to fit the wheel in with the rotary table, since I only have about 9 or 10 inched of Z travel; second that using a fly cutter or other hole cutter the diameter of the inward arch of the Club Sport holes will likely also cut into the outer perimeter of the openings. They might be cut at an angle so that may not be a problem.

However, my most recent thought about this is that the best way to do this is to simply buy a little air powered reciprocating saw from harbor Freight for about $10 and a bunch of metal cutting blades and simply cut the new shape of the openings from the back along the forging lines provided for it, then use a coarse rasp and finish out the cuts and finally with a sanding cylinder in some sort of die grinder finish the openings out with proper rounded edges and such and then refinish the wheels. That will be a lot of work, but just about anyone could do it for not too much expense even if you have to buy all the tools to do it with. I might even give it a try sometime to get some use out of the extra wheels I have around here that I might want to fit on one of my 924s.

One should be aware that I don't think that all the man hole cover wheels have these forgings in the back to define the Club Sport openings.

I just put 18" turbo twists from a 1999 carrera 4. The rears are 10" and have 65 offset. I used the factory spacers that came with my car. Car drives great. I got them with a set of Michelins with less than 1000 miles on them.
