Default Replacement keys

When I bought my '87 928, it only came with the "long keys". Can a "short key" duplicate be cut from a long key?
Who can do this?

928intl can do it also, the difference between the 'valet' and alarm is about 1/4" is missing from the end.

I was going to write this
"The keys are identical apart from the extra length with an extra tooth to deflect an extra tumbler in the alarm switch part of the lock( maybe two extra teeth can't remember) of the long key - so yes you can create a short key from a long key."

The simple answer is if you cut off the extra length from a working long key it will be a working short key.

I learned something here. So the shorty key just doesn't activate / deactivate the alarm? Any issue with using that one all the time?

What if you use the long key to lock, and try to unlock and start the car with the short one?

If locked with long key car is armed, unlock with short key car is still armed and alarm goes off. (done it a few times) No issue with using all the time.

Definitely use keys4less. Very quick and reasonable.

OK. One last question. Mine is an '87 with alarm. Will the short key work on all '87s with alarm? Or is there something I need to verify before I get the shorty key.

Thanks

Absolutely use keys4classics. Perfect fit with just a hi-res picture and fairly fast service.
