Thanks all for the suggestions so far. New cap rotor and wire parts are on the way. Further questions:
I don't see a torque spec for the rotor and cap fasteners in the shop manual. Anyone have an idea? Is it just good and snug + locktite blue?

Some for some reason, I don't see the grounding locations in the tech manuals for my MY and I'm sure I had located that in the past. Can someone point out where I can find the grounding locations in my model year documents?

your ground points should be at the rear of the V , since you have the 32V engine
the 16V engines were on the right side cam tower under the EGR return line

Last page of the WSM electrical drawings has a coordinate-based drawing thatdescribes the ground point locations.

I'd change the wires if I removed a cap and it looked like that. Usually, if the wires are showing a higher amount of resistance, it will create carbon build up...since the spark does not have a clear unobstructed path to the spark plug.
