Either the owner should invest the money to sort out his mistake or flip it cheap with the motor as a blank.

Ok, I was told by the owner that what he put into the gas tank was a product called "Water Wetter". He said the last time he started it up was last year and it blew out white smoke when it ran. He also said that it ran extremely rough, would expect that.

So, given the additive, I'm thinking not too much damage but still an overall fuel system cleanout and replacement of fuel filter, engine compartment rubber hoses, and what else??? Not sure if the fuel pump would need replacing although it wouldn't hurt since I'll have the tank removed. Blow out all metal fuel lines of course, what about the injectors?

I'd still be flushing out the coolant system as well, not sure if I need to replace any components.

As alway, Thanks for your help.

Water Wetter won't harm anything in the fuel system, but it will make some smoke. Just drain out the fuel system, and refill with good gas.

Fix that first and then start sorting anything else.

Should I replace the filter at least?

Sure, why not. Don't forget the crush washers, and jumper the fuel pump relay to test it's not leaking. We've had carbeques.

Well, we settled on a price and I'm going to purchase it. I feel I'm getting an amazing deal, about half of what it's really worth. Not in any rush to get it on the road, need to take my time and do the necessary work on the fuel system and replace all the rubber tubing in the engine compartment. I'll be looking for a reputable body shop that will take out two very small dents and clean up some touch up work done on it before. I guess this means I have officially been swallowed by the shark!

Congrats, and welcome to the tank!

Congratulations on your purchase.

Looks in pretty nice shape. Imagine most of what has been talked about here can be sorted out without much drama. I believe you can drain the tank property without pulling it. Nice to see another one come out of storage, too. Hopefully, we'll see you out and about next spring.

Brian.

Also, you mentioned looking for a body shop.

The owner, John, is a 928 guy. Talked to him at "Sharks in Hell" (928 get together) for quite a bit and he sounds like the type of person you should be seeking out.
