Default Temp II sensor ID

I'm having trouble with a cold start issue on my 1985 US model 928S. From reading other threads, it sounds like it's likely to be a Temp II sensor issue, most tellingly because if I give it a shot of starting fluid it starts and runs fine for as long as you care to run it.

So the issue is, I'm pretty sure I've narrowed down which should be the Temp II sensor, but I wanted to clarify because the wiring colors aren't matching up exactly right.

I've attached a picture, and there are 3 sensors front and center. From left to right I'm thinking temp sender to the gauge (not temp ii), then air temperature (it's on the front intake runner) and then temp II on the right, behind the thermostat housing.

The other question is - the sensor I have in that right position behind the thermostat housing, it has a large and a small spade terminal on it. Is that correct for temp II? I'm trying to confirm if the air temperature sensor is plugged into my coolant jacket and temp II is stuck in the intake runner. It might explain some OTHER issues I've had with hot starting.

The colors are NOT very clear, but enough that I can see some blue on one of my temp 2 wires and some red on one of the air temp wires, which is opposite to what's indicated in the manual, but at least I can tell which pairs of wires belong together, and because one set has a smaller spade terminal, I know which set has to go to which sensor.

Any ideas?

In the picture provided Temp II on the left immediately adjacent to the flat plate holding the round three terminal connector.

The gauge sensor is the one behind the thermostat housing, with the differently sized spade connectors.

the yellow trimmed connector is temp II. put a 2000 ohm resistor on the leads to the block and it will start if that is the problem.
