I'm looking to put the original analog clock back in my console, and the lower trim does not appear to be original.
As a result, I don't have any holes to mount it in.
I was considering adhering a couple of nuts to the back of the console piece (like in the last picture) and then use a screw of the appropriate length, but was curious if you guys have any alternate approaches. I'd like to avoid buying a new trim piece if possible.
The console itself of the early cars that hold the round analog clock actually has plastic mounting nubs with molded into the back if it with threaded inserts in the nubs (see photo). If you think using the nuts on the back will work, I'd think that's fine or you might need to make a plate that you can thread into or put nuts behind so you can attach the clock. Should be multiple ways to make the mounting of the clock functional.
I've been away from the car for the last few days, but was thinking your approach of recreating a bracket against the console is probably going to be the most stable and least likely to collapse inward versus mounting directly on the trim.
