Default WTB. 80~81 rear muffler in excellent condition

My 81 came with a nearly new ansa box, but not stock muffler/pumpkin.

Looking for one near mint for my concours car. Used ok, i can paint it, prefer low miles, needs to be the kind with single inlet, with 4 bolt flange.

Preping the car now for Carmel Concours in August.

if it has a 4 bolt flange than it probably does not have the stock 81 center muffler either as stock has the 2 units welded together

^^^ that's right Mark.
Only 78-79 had a intermediate and rear separated by a 4-bolt flange.
Good news to the OP is the later single exhaust type is more available.

I have a NOS muffler and can email pics if you want. $150 + shipping. I bought years ago when I had an '81. It is the rear one.

If it's just a rear muffler with a 4-bolt flange, it's not the right one for an '81.
Certainly would work for my '77 #6 car. If it is just the rear muffler, consider me interested. Been looking for a long time.

My car has the rear Ansa box. like this:

and a modified single pipe in front of that, with the 4 bolt flange.

The muffler I need is this:

or a whole 81 system, cat back.

Is your intermediate 'resonator' a Porsche part or aftermarket Ansa?

Note, if you go with an early muffler you will need late muffler hanging hardware.

For reference, your cat back exhaust should look like this:

Jim - that looks like an early exhaust used up to 79.
82 rear muffler/pumpkin has a single entry with 4 bolt flange like Mark W's picture. Part number 928 111 931 00.
I could be wrong of course.

I was looking at my own 82 cars - have a few of them.
I get it wrong every day so I am not surprised at all 8>)
My apologies for doubting you Jim D.

Is the part number correct 928 111 931 00?

That is the correct number for 80-82 which is a weld on rear muffler.
928-111-031-03 1978 ( with provisions for battery box) bolt on
928-111-031-04 1979 bolt on

My front pipe is a single pipe, factory, but looks to have a welded on flange.
