Well, I can see that a screw is missing and I can see that as the arm rotates the whole bracket flexes; I can see it moving past the screw hole. It looks like the lower arm is flexing away from the upper coupler as it moves. That would appear to be the reason it's decoupling.

The lower coupler should spring downward in a controlled manner along the pivot shaft under light pressure. Looks like that mechanism might be frozen? Replace the screw and get a video of you pushing down on the lower coupler. Your upper coupler looks OK, BTW

I did notice the missing screw, but damned if I haven't watched that 100 times and I didn't notice the bracket flexing. Pushing down on the lower coupler, it seems to be OK/not frozen, and I didn't think that bracket was moving, but it sure looks like it is in the video. (*kicks self for not immediately replacing that screw*)

Checked mine just now, after installing new wiper...since your topic reminded me of its weakness, and it cycles twice. Not three times as I originally remembered.

I could swear I've heard that 3x bit before though. Interesting...

I believe the three-sweep-system was an upgrade option and was an extra seven thousand dollars...lol

So, did your wiper work after repairing the missing bolt?

I haven't had a chance to do it yet. That's first on the list for tomorrow...well, right after the PCA Porsches and Pancakes meetup

OK, this problem has been solved with a simple screw. (*sigh*) Add it to the hall of shame, not fixing an obvious missing screw and then posting to RL about why the thing attached to the screw isn't working properly. Thanks everyone for the assistance!

When you unlock the hatch (with key or electrically, if so equipped), it should pop up perhaps half an inch. If not, there is usually a problem with the latch. Perhaps worn or missing liner, perhaps broken latch housing (the part on the hatch that enters the latch - very common), perhaps misalignment. There is a stout spring at the bottom of the latch to push it up.

It comes up, but just barely. I think you're right, something is a little off there, although nothing is obviously wrong to look at. No missing screws this time, I don't think!

The 3 cycles is controlled solely by a delayed off relay, the one right below the motor. If you are getting just two wipes then either the relay delay is too short or the motor is running too slow. You can replace the 3 wipe relay with a regular SPST or SPDT Bosch type relay and get just a single wipe. After all you can have as many wipes as you like by just holding the switch down. Personally I think 3 wipes is excessive unless you have washer jets back there - most people don't.

Yes, Alan, two seems to do the job nicely. Probably would never use it anyway...it's just one of those things...wanting it to work and have a new blade.

Kind of like the sun roof...just knowing it doesn't work bothers me...but would never use it anyway.

I don't know...sometimes in the morning during the (Florida) winter there is condensation on the rear window...you can't see anything. The wiper takes care of that nicely. As for the sunroof (see my other thread) I thought I agreed with you, but I cranked it open by hand to see if the mechanism worked, and...I kinda liked it. If it weren't raining tonight, I'd be tempted to hand-open it and go for a drive...
