FWIW, my S4 has a consistent +10kmph on the speedo (according the Dyno folks when I had it tested last) and a theoretical topspeed of 270kmph (280 on the speedo) (which is obvisouly highly optimistic as the car didn't have to move any air on the dyno
)
BTW: I'll be bringing a Canon digitial vid. camera to the ring - hopefully I'll be able to get some nice 928 high-speed vids without wrecking my car

Based on my observations I would expect at least a 25 kph variance on your speedo. The, um, enthusiasm of the stock speedo irritates me.
Out of curiosity what is the top speed record the S4 set on the salt flats? As I recall the record was broken by an Infinity, and then by a very prepped Lincoln Mark VIII which ran 181 MPH and change.
*Edit* I'm now not sure if the 928 and the Lincoln were in the same class.
I found this quote on another sire: "With some seam taping, and a change in final drive ratio, Al Holbert coaxes 171 mph out of the S4 at Bonneville Salt Flats." It can be found here with some other great info:

The Lincoln that took the record in 1993 had an open exhaust, full belly pan, no speed limiter, special rearend gears (to run 185 in 3rd,) special auto trans (built for very low drag,) Speedway wheels, and the usual aerodynamic improvements. I wonder if the S4 was similarly prepped? The record is for some sort of 'stock' category but seems to allow for improvements beyond saftey.

The records that the S4 broke were for stock, cat equipped cars. I had read somewhere that an attempt was made to break the record maybe a couple of years later by a Corvette ZR-1, but they weren't able to do it with the cats on.

So what car was the first to beat the 928's record?
And who now has the record for the fastest stock vehicle?
I am sure there are many Ferarris, Lambos, and maybe even the Viper, who would beat that record with cats, AC, and all the goodies of a stock car...
