Thank you all for the valuable information. I will check my options when I'm ready, the Danmar and Ben-Pak are very similar, and there is only $ 200 or so difference in price, we shall see availability at that time. I like the idea that they both have locks for the height so the shocks don't hold the lift all the time, could be dangerous otherwise. I might just wear a bicycle helmet when working underneath the car when I get it, just to prevent accidents of painful nature ! If I was skinny I would not mind as much working underneath the car while on jacks, but otherwise it's really a pain.

One downside is the learning curve about not banging your head on sharp metal parts as you scoot in and out...

And one thing I hadn't thought of about lifts in general- there are jobs where you need to come in from about and go up from the bottom, and it is a piece o' cake to just raise and lower the car as needed. Here's a link to my thread on the lift, FWIW https://rennlist.com/forums/928-foru...r-a-928-a.html
Thank you for the links to your posts about the lift, I will keep in my records.
Your garage looks a little bigger than the garage I'm working in at the moment. My garage measures the minimum for a single garage in Canada, 11 x 19, barely enough place to walk on one side. Here is a quick pic from my archives:

Smaller than mine (which is 19X19)- hard to believe! I like the bicycle helmet idea.

Next year I plan to move to Ontario from Quebec and I have chosen to get a house built with an actual 2 car garage, not a double, the dimensions are 21 x 25 wide, perfect for the 928 and my edge if I need.
