Hacker - as no one buys the Porsche seals due to price hard to tell - however my extrusion is an exact size copy of the original.

Anyone want to buy 500M of extrusion 8>)

That's what I thought, but such details can get lost in these threads. How much are the originals?

Safelite repaired mine, but it took them three tries to get the proper tint with the embedded antenna.

We'll see if my local Safelite gets it right... I was probably due for a new windshield anyway, when the sun hits mine in a certain way you can see a decent amount of rock chips.

Safelite found it for me no problem! I'll report back with their P/N, but it was a special order item. They identify the blue glass with no antenna, or green glass with antenna pigtail. Sean even recommended I use them, and runs them on his cars without issue so far (he can comment more if he wants).

I had a $30 off coupon, and with tax out the door was ~$445 (just under my $500 deductible, of course). Progressive has a 20% discount with Safelite, but since it's special order that doesn't apply, unfortunately. My local insurance firm I have progressive through instructed me to call Safelite and ask about price, then AFTER they quoted it to mention the progressive discount just to be sure they don't jack it up behind the scenes.

I plan on removing the side trim and cowl piece before bringing it in. The 928 is a car they won't do in your driveway, for whatever reason.

FWIW - I upgraded to OE Porsche GTS seals and trim pieces a few years ago on my 90GT. Installation was very easy by hand, no soap and water, and no cracks to date. Roger is correct - it wasn't cheap, ~$200-250 IIRC, but I am pleased with the results.

Same here, I went OEM on this one..as I also am on the outter door/window seals.

I cant find much reason to...do less, to save a dollar on a personal investment.

I fully appreciate the NLA fabrication Roger/etc has done, however...because there is no choice.

I still notice a fair amoiunt of wind noise, even with the full set of GTS trimmings.

Get some 3/8" foam backer-rod from the building-supply store. It's a soft black closed-cell foam that gets stuffed into gaps as a back-stop for caulking. You can get about a thousand feet for the cost of the Porsche GTS seals.

Aren't the Porsche seals tapered from bottom to top? Yes, expensive, and they also need the 92+ side trims to fit properly (another 0.1 Porsche-buck), but ours went in with no drama. The side-trims come out, the GTS rubber seals have a slot that fits the new GTS side-trim, and the whole thing slides back in place. At least that was our experience.

We did the same for our GT, also happy with the results.

I think I lucked out. The guy that came out used to have a 928, or maybe his dad did. In any case, he ordered it twice from their usual supplier, and it kept coming back with no antenna and the wrong tint. They ended up ordering it from a Porsche dealer the third time, and got it right, at least that's what he told me.

That makes sense, and matches what we've been told for years-- that only Porsche had the windshields with the antenna wire. But Porsche charges big bucks (over $1K) for those little items...
So yes, I think you lucked out.
