Firewall of course, what else did you think I was talking about?
. Perverts!
All kidding aside. How what's the best way to get through the firewall with either vacuum hose for my boast gauge or the connector for the MAP sensor cable?

There is a grommet with room for one more line/wire underneath/behind the wiper motor - it's where the vacuum line from the brake booster to the HVAC goes....

It makes it easier to loosen the wiper motor mounting bolts and move it a bit but you don't have to.
But what i have to add is to use a "fish" device ( a shish kabob stick is perfect) and tape your vac hose with vinyl elect tape to the end, (put stick end inside vac hose)
grease it all with dielectric grease and pass the leading end of the stick through the grommet then get inside and look up under the steering wheel (flashlight needed) find the stick and pull it through.
It's crucial to use dielectric grease to make the pass through without pulling the vac hose off of the stick end.
Hope this helps.

I have my own version of this idea - It's what I used when I did this.
I used a very long cable zip tie - almost 12" long - with the zipper box snipped off. I connected the vacuum line to it with heat shrink - over about a 3" overlap but with the heat shrink overlapping that by about 3" more on each side. I filed a few deep slots into the side of the cable tie, and also into the wall of the vacuum tube - near the ends (under where the heat shrink will go) - this makes it harder for it to slide out. Worked well - but it is indeed a challenge to grab on the inside. The nylon zip ties are good because you can bend them to feed towards the direction you need to be able to grab them with long needle nose pliers.
I think I did use a wooden kebab stick to make the initial hole - recalled now you mention that - I did not need to remove or loosen the wiper motor though.

Good advice as always Alan.
Also consider pulling through an extra wire or two with your vac hose if you plan
on adding any additional gauges down the road. I did this to add my more accurate VDO water temp gauge. Just loop them up til ready.
