Default Do Fuel Injectors in the 928 fail like 1988-1992 GM?

Thinking about the Rochester injectors on GM Tuned Port Injection cars and the Corvette ZR-1, the injectors have a big failure rte due to ethanol in today's fuel.

Do Porsche 928 models have this same issue? I haven't see this discussed, and waned to ask. Thanks!

I sent my stock injectors off an 82 to Witch Hunters for flow matching and refurb.

Although the cleaning helped the flow rate, it wasn't a spectacular improvement over 32 year old injectors that sat unused for 13 years.

But they work as good as new at a fraction of the cost of new parts.

I've sent off a hundred or more injectors for cleaning and refurb. I've had exactly two bad injectors that needed to be replaced.

This is for the LH injectors. Not CIS.

Pretty much the same ratio here. I can think of one 24lb and two 19lb that I've had to replace for being bad. These are pretty reliable.

CIS ones are usually just gummed up and pretty easy to clean up.

But then you can replace them for the more modern Bosch 4 hole injectors for about $365 for a set of 8 and forget about them for another 25 years.

In my limited experience, the only failure I've seen was leaking where the plastic is joined to the metal, not good as this sprays raw fuel all over the place.

With that said they are basically a solenoid(like a relay w/o points), so yes the windings can fail (open/short) and they can also stick (open or closed).

Some basic at home testing can be done before sending them off to WitchHunter(or your favorite local) which also describes testing and storage on their website.

I just took my injectors off over the winter to get cleaned and two of them were leaking, so it does happen.
