I've spent my spare time the past three days going over zddp and oils to figure out there is limited availability on specialty oils locally. I ended up buying 20w50 red line oillfor my MY90. After tax was $150 for a case of 12. A bit pricey I thought, and that was after he gave me a buck per quart off!!
I may pick up some mobil1 for the truck and buick though. Thanks for the tip, and rebate link as well.

Torco TR-1 or SR-1 is probably the highest. 1550 & 1600 or 1700.

amsoil is right there too.... but you missed the main point of my objection of mobil 1........ viscosity breakdown. pretty serous at 220 to 240F track temps. i also think the anti foaming characteristics of the amsoil (and a few others) is quite superior and might be the reason i dont see much oil in the intake or other "oil related issues" as compared to most. just an observation.
definitely going to grab some mobil 1 for the tow vehicle though!!!

I'll never use M1 in my cars a again, my Audi A6 2.7T started to experience low oil pressure alarming, getting close to oil change interval. Never happened when I used other oils. Did the oil change used Rotella T6 and no more low oil pressure light! Just did a change in the Cayenne, used the Rotella in that, engine sounds quieter, may be my imagination but after the Audi incident I feel better without M1. Just wish the T6 was available in 20w50. It's either Amsoil or Brad Penn in the 928.

Lubriguard 15w 40 has been the dino oil in my 928 for the past 13 years. The PO turned me on to it when I purchased it. I also used it in my Spitfire, and 72 Datsun 240z, used fleet wide in our diesel trucks. Check out the testing site.

Go to middle of page and click on " sample set" to see it compaired with other oils. Can be purchased at Auto Zone.

You may be hitting 220 and not knowing it.
Do you have a second engine temp gauge?
220F is easy to hit if you've got a loose fan belt, low on coolant or simply on a hot day in traffic. Install an accurate gauge and you will see.
I would not use Mobil 1 no matter how cheap.
Conventional Valvolene VR1 Racing 20/50 is superior (high zinc for our motors, anti foam)it's the #1 racing oil and very easy to find affordable.
Regular old conventional Valvolene oil was found to offer much better metal against metal protection than mobil 1 synthetic in an independent test.
Mobil 1 was one of the worst in the test.

220 isnt that hot..the oil brings a lot of block heat down with it.
Coolant temp != oil temp.
