Default WTB: Radiator air duct

I'm looking for the air duct that goes between the cooling flap assembly and the bumper cover. I need a good used duct or one that can be used as donor material to patch/combine with the remnants of mine to make one good one. I checked 928Intl and DC Auto but neither have one at present.

Thanks

Mike Hays

When I did my repaint I discovered side marker light seals to be mostly disintegrated. Jim Doerr of 928 Classics has very affordable replacements. Hope this helps out.

For a '90 I think Mike's looking for this air guide - 928 575 521 01 (shown attached to the underlying '87-90 cooling flap frame, with the flapectomy performed...)

Since used are $150 on the 928Intl site I'd bet new they're ridiculous. But maybe that's the only way to go (?)

You are spot on Rob. Air guide 928.575.521.01 is the part I need. They are $375 list from Porsche for this bit of plastic, hence my search for a good used one. Mine is missing a couple of large chunks from one end and will require grafting in new material to be salvageable.

Mike,

Mine was cracked on one corner and missing one flap, I went to a big box store and went through their plastic bins until I found a material that was close, cut it to size, formed it with a heat gun and plastic welded it in. Seems to have worked really well. Total cost $10.

If you can find a donner better but always nice to have a plan B.

I don't have a picture of the duct here, but this is a similar repair made on the chin spoiler, although I had all of the pieces

Good Luck

My car was recently supercharged so this was removed, I will look through my parts tonight and see what I have available and its condition.

so thats what that looks like! I had a small chuck about 6 inches long attached to the left (drivers) side and just yanked it out while I was performing the flapectomy last weekend. Would love to get one for pattern as i think it would be pretty easy to duplicate in aluminum minus the ribs maybe.

Thanks for looking Mj.

I have been thinking through how to repair what I have without a donor part. I'm thinking about lots of flexible bumper epoxy with screen mesh reinforcement to repair the cracks and bond in something for the missing material. I've also considered coating the entire thing in a reinforcing layer of wire mesh and flexible urethane epoxy.

Should go without saying but it's a pretty important piece of ducting to direct airflow onto the radiator. If not installed correctly, it's flimsy/flexible enough that it can collapse and block enough airflow at speed to cause overheating issues.
