I'm buying a replacement intake for my '87 S4 to have powder coated. I've looked at 2 different intakes and both have part # 928 110 546 2R
PET lists the part # as 928 110 228 00 or 928 110 228 02
I would like to know this intake will fit on my engine before I buy it and have it coated.
Thanks in advance.

Now that's a problem. Looks like the only way to see the casting number is by removing the intake. My plan is leave my intake on the engine till I have a spare that's powder coated (trying to minimize shark down time).

Hey Don,
I don't know the answer to your part # problem and this may just add to it but, I happen to see this one on Ebay.
1990 GT complete intake
I'm sure if you give one of the Big 3 a call they would be able to shed some light on the subject.
Good luck,

Dave M. -
Thanks for the heads-up on the eBay item. I emailed the seller, asking him what the number is on the bottom of the intake. Maybe it'll help & maybe not.
Ed -
Thanks for the confirmation on the part number. That leads me to the next question. Is the part # located anywhere on the intake? Or is the only number on the intake the casting #? Is there any way to cross reference the part # and the casting #, or is it all part of the Porsche sleight of hand?

DonT - Here is the bottom of my '87 intake. PN 928 110 546 2R. I had another set of cam covers and intake powder coated, then swapped out to reduce down time. So I have the cam covers that came off my '87 available - PM me if you need them.

Everybody - Thanks a lot. I really appreciate the help.
Steve J. - Your picture is exactly the confirmation I wanted - you have the same number as the intake I found. I already have the spare set of cam covers, thanks anyway. Who did your powder coating? I've seen Crosslink Powder Coating in Dallas mentioned frequently. I was looking for something closer, but close doesn't mean better.
