Default Wiring diagram help - Re: upgrading to euro driving / fog - Take 2

Old lights are out, now I'm studying the wiring since the US cars are not the same as Euro (I knew this going on, just wasn't sure how much different).

First head scratcher:
The US "driving" light has one bulb, yet the harness coming out of the housing has four position connector labelled 1-2-3-4.

2 & 4 are ground

1 - white/black Left, white/red Right
On with every possible combination of lights. High / Low / Parking

3 - I cannot tell what color this wire is (same on both sides), solid color with no stripe. Either a dirty white, faded yellow...not sure.
Here's the puzzling part - terminal 3 doesn't come on for anything, I cannot figure out what this is supposed to do.

Nor can I find any of these wires in the WSM wiring diagram for a 79.

Any ideas? I suspected fuse #2 since that is labelled "Driving (Euro)" however I have a good fuse in position #2. Is there a relay on the Euro diagram that will "activate" this circuit?

I'm already up to speed on the "flash to pass" upgrade, plan is to do this next:

The Euro fog light also has a secondary running/parking light. What makes sense to me and hopefully my cars harness agrees:

1. Euro Fog will connect up to same harness as the US lights
2. Parking bulb inside the fog housing will connect up to 1 & 2 from above
3. If there is some way to "activate" 3 & 4 that will go to the Euro driving light

I just need to find the whte/black & white/red wires in the diagram to hopefully figure out where 3&4 are going.

According to this post, the driving lights are only supposed to come on with the high beams:

Here's how the lights on my 80S RoW is wired.
Maybe you could use it.

Given that the rear fog light switch and wiring, and the wiring for the fender turn signals are in place in all the US cars, I'd kind of guess that the wiring for the driving lights is in there too.

You just have to find it. (that falls under the "It's easy once you..." kind of thing).

Thanks - that explains what M7 & M8 are for.

I need to stop working on the car so late.
Those "rogue" wires connect the front aux light to the side marker.....just like the WSM shows.

If the wires for the Euro driving lights are there, they are bundled up tight in the harness, not sure how much I want to start cutting away to find them.

So unless someone else can chime in that's done this before, I have a couple of options (in order of how I think I should do it)

1. Run a new set of wires from each side to M7 and M8 in the fuse panel....like the factory intended
2. Tie into the high beam circuit at the front of the car. Since these driving lights are only supposed to come on with the high beams anyway, use a relay to keep from overloading that circuit.
3. Scrap the project
4. Wire them into the existing circuit for the parking light so they are on all the time - I suspect this is what most people have done.

Good news for option #1, the circuit from the high beam switch is there so M7 & M8 are at least connected to that.

Ooohhhhh.

I like option 3 best.

Scrap the project. Then sell the lights and frames to me to put my Euro back the way it's supposed to be.

Yeah. That's your best course of action.
