Another Rennlister Has Passed Away
I regret to inform you that we lost another one this week. George Appunn ( Sharkbody here on Rennlist ) passed away on Tuesday morning. George succumbed to cancer that was just recently diagnosed on Feb 28th. There will be a memorial service on May 1st at 4pm at:
Maximo Presbyterian Church
3200 58th Avenue South
St. Petersburg, FL
George was a well know FL 928'er. He was a mainstay of our FL shark gatherings. He was always quick witted and made me laugh constantly. My favorite memory with George was the time we spent together at the St. Pete Grand Prix. George and I discovered that we could pay $20 to ebter our 928's into the charity PCA car show at the yacht club. This not only saved us $$ but the location was incredible. We parked our cars in among a sea of very expensive classic and modern Porsches. We then spent the rest of the day perched up in the top of the yacht club parking garage overlooking the race. This gave us a great ( and free ) vantage point to watch the race. We took full advantage of the bar at the yacht club from time to time and spent the afternoon making up fictitious concourse categories that we might be eligible for such as "best use of an undersized wheel", "most visually appealing placement of dash cracks", "prettiest car that wasn't invited", etc. George Appunn was one of a kind. RIP Sharkbody
