Default Ride-along on SITM fun run...

Good Morning All!

I am eagerly awaiting SITM coming in June. I have learned from this forum that I NEED to go to this bash as part of my 928 education. This will be my first chance to see not just one, but many 928's in person! Goofy of me to feel this way? Maybe...but I am still giddy at the prospect.

Now, I want to take it one step further. I am not sure how to tactfully ask this, so I will be blunt. I want to ride in a 928. Specifically, I want to ride along on the fun run during SITM.

I understand that none of you know me and this is pretty bold. However, I am asking on the premise that I am an easy-going, yet respectful gentleman. I want to meet several of you at SITM. (Not just to mooch a ride, but to learn your experiences with the 928.) If we get along, great! I will try for a ride. If not, no harm, no foul.

And...I have cash. Yes, I am more than willing to pay for a ride in a 928.

Having said all that, I am going to leave this here and see where it goes.

Thanks for your time,

Seth K. Pyle

Seth, no issues with you riding along. This will be my 1st SITM as well so I am not sure how aggressive the fun run will be but will certainly try and stay with the pack! No need to pay. I just got my sport seats completely redone with new foam and leather so they will be comfortable!

I look forward to meeting you at SITM.

Hello jetson8859!
Thanks for replying!
I look forward to meeting you. Those sport seats sound sweet!
Pay or no pay, I will cheerfully fuel up whichever 928 I get the priviledge to ride in.

Thanks!

Heck, been in the community since 2004 and still haven't attended! Pathetic I say. You will most likely find most of the owners willing to give you a ride as well as talk your ears off about their 928.

If it is anything like the funrun at last years Sharktoberfest I am sure some one will be more than wiling to give you a ride. Especially if you pay for gas as posted above. Believe me, it will be burnt in copious quantities

The 928 community is one of the nicest, most generous and genuine communities I have seen. I wouldn't be surprised if some one offered to give you a ride in their car half way through for a taste of 2 928s. An 86- and an 87+.

I would LOVE to ride in multiple 928's, but will be happy if I get to ride in one.
Like I said, I'm easygoing.

As for cash or gas, I am serious as a heart attack. I will make it worth someone's while. My DD is a V-8 AWD Explorer that gets 15mpg on a good day. Filling a thirsty 928 or two isn't going to faze me much.

Number one question should be: Do you get car sick?

Unfortunately...yes.
However, that is why Dramamine exists.

It's been a while since I've been to SITM, but the roads are outstanding. The only thing that kept me from getting carsick was the exhilaration while driving. There is no way in hell I would have ever made it as a passenger.

I wish you luck, sir.

Thank you, soontobered84, I know what you mean.
However, I will manage this. Lots of Dramamine + loads of excitement x ride in 928 = no car sick drama.

Wow Dave...killing me......just FINALLY! Got the cv axle parts from Roger today. Gotta work the next 3 weekends.....then got to pull the dash, fix it, put it back, put the pod back, pull the exhaust manifolds and replace them.....then she should be ready for some testing......I'm almost year behind schedule (which is 2 years behind the original schedule)

You coming to SITM? I'll ride shotgun with you on the fun run, unless you already have a rider.....

Aren't there still 24 hours in each and every day? And you've got how long to get it ready??

Git 'er done already!!
