Waze is greatness. It's saved my a$$ more times than I can count especially coming back from Spring Fling this year.

Living in Virginia where they are illegal, were I to use a detector, I'd use the Bel Driver STI which has both excellent range, anti-falsing and is totally shielded...or undetectable in common parlance. Again, that's what I'd use if we could...

Radar detector did not do me any good at 3rd Coast last year in my Cayenne. May have been because I gave it to the group leader for the tour drive. When the ranger came up to my window he asked my if i knew why he pulled me over. I had to stop myself from pointing to the car in front and saying, "Because he has my radar detector."

Still didn't get a ticket.

Are detectors legal in your state? (or states you regularly drive in). If not, you probably want one of the undetectable ones (various Beltronics or Stinger models).

I've found this forum excellent for detector info (with the usual dose of brand-I-bought-fanboyism you'll need to filter out):

hi Hilton.........I live in Canada (provinces not states) where detector law is more liberal than our neighbours to the South.

The majority of my driving is in my local province and some in the province to the West. We do adventure across the US border a few times a year mostly to the states South of us; sometimes far South

In general Canada is much more restrictive than the US on radar detector use, most provinces prohibit them including the most populated ones... in the USA it's mostly just commercial use that's prohibited (unless you are unlucky enough to live in DC, Oklahoma or Virginia). I never saw any reason to be 'stealthy' - except theft protection.

I was actually surprised that there are any provinces where it's legal because everywhere I had been it seemed to have been prohibited: Ontario, Quebec, Manitoba, New Brunswick. I have also been to BC and I see now that it is permitted there - surprised! Seems its just the lower western provinces that are 'liberal' on this...

Virginia and Washington DC are the only two locales/states in the USA where RADAR Detector use is a no-no. Military bases, too.

Re-check commercial vehicle restrictions on their use. More than Oklahoma, really.

FWIW, the ONLY detector worth its weight in gold is the Escort Redline. This, from a V1 owner since 92, traded up 3 years ago. No regrets.

Is WAZE safe to operate if you are driving alone? It looked like it might involve a lot of looking at small screen and tapping icons.

Any idea if it can be operated via Siri voice command?

Thanks!

My Escort built-in front & rear 9500ci is also claimed by the mfr to be completely undetectable. And it neutralizes Lidar both F&R.
