Just reading over this thread, and marveled at the one with 270 Amp output - that requires at least 4/0 cable, which will require some serious rewiring...

Amazing enough, a CNC house in Texas, is actually right now making the replacement housing that is needed to make this alternator fit directly into a 928!
I didn't want any Mickey Mouse extended tensioning bracket or adaptors to have a replacement alternator "kind of fit" into a 928.
Way too "backyard" for me.
The things I make have to be better than the original pieces, yet still look like they should be there.....not look like an alternator that I took off of a farm tractor sitting out back.
By taking a brand new, current generation, high tech Bosch alternator and remaking the housing, I can have the best of both worlds....great alternator output that mounts in the original location, with the original pieces.
"Alternator perfection."
All it takes is time and money.....
Hopefully a month.

Alternator installed...running great.
Full load...AC on high...all lights on...so .2 volts loss ...with everything except wipers..very nice....
Finally got one of the things on my Greg Brown wish list...new alternator...what a pleasure it is to have something that throws 14 volts at the car at idle.
The car loves it...runs smoother...everything works better..
Went on with absolutely no issues whatsoever...documentation was great and very easy electrical connections on the back.
Just love it!
What did I do with the external temp sensor? I removed it from it's circular "shell" I guess..and unplugged it....the connections were green....and it was completely non functional..which was why I dug into it in the first place..with 18 degree AC you need the switching between fresh and recirc to work properly...got out the mini file set and the DeOxit and did the needful...then put a nice piece of wire loom over it...zip tied in place and have the sensor pointing downward right up there where it plugs in...out of the weather and protected from the water...I should have taken a pic...I think it's a great solution for those who no longer need the cooling hose but are looking for a placement option for the temp sensor...I'm bad about remembering pics...but hopefully the narrative will help.
Back to our new alternator.....
I do think I still have some work to do ...going to revisit the battery ground strap..Greg I have yours installed but I'm going to focus specifically on the connection to the battery. I am not getting a fluttering volts guage except of course when turn signal is on...but I think based on other pictures my voltages can be improved. I am going to check with my guys to see how old the engine ground strap is...it's a good looking one and looks fairly new. I have a new Porsche part from Roger and what I'll do first is give the connections a real good clean and maybe a little fine grit to rough things up...pretty sure at least half a volt is there for the taking with a little basic elbow grease...
My phone is being very slow uploading pics of the volts under full load and the alternator install itself...coming in a few...going to IHOP for a bite ...mobile tire service is coming this morning to rebalance the front tires...then it's off to Marshall, MO for a showdown with the St. Louis PCA chapter...whoever shows up with the most cars wins...time to "bring it".....
No load on system, engine running....cold start...

Burning Brakes
There was a product a introduction thread here I think:
https://rennlist.com/forums/928-forum/965623-ultimate-high-output-bosch-alternator-fits-1985-1995-a.html
Many people including me have installed one it appears. I have one slight reservstion about the open design of all the proposed OEM upgrades available.
Nonethelss, so far this unit is working fine for me.
