Default Cruise control speed sensor

Does anyone know where the location of the speed sensor is? Does the '79 have a speed sensor? The manual only mentions '86 on.
When I perform the test, there is a change in ohms, but it's not a distinct and obvious zero to infinity. It may be working, it may not. I just don't know.

I had the opposite problem. Mine was 12v under all conditions (acceleration stuck on). I found my problem to be a short in the switch on the column. If you look at the wiring diagram, power is routed from pin 5 on the control unit connector back to the switch. It is then returned to the control unit from the switch 3 ways:

1) Pin 8 (Cancel)
2) Pin 9 (Set/accel)
3) Pin 10 (Repeat)

If pin 8 and 10 check out ok, then you must be getting power to the switch. There is a yellow wire from the switch to pin 9 at the control unit. It is either the switch or the wire.

A agree, this section of the manuals is better than most!
