Oh the treasure you find when you replace your carpet!!
So the final accounting is complete, and here for your amazement is the
bounty of priceless treasure found in my dear old 928 during my interior refresh project..
I especially like the 9mm round and the 1980's pink Kleenex.
Maybe I'll take up a new career as a sunken pirate ship hunter.

Usually it's french fries and take-out Chinese that somehow ends up under the seat. I was cleaning K's 4Runner and found peanuts and other crud that I wouldn't normally expect. The seats changed color while they were out too, as did the rugs. She asked if I bleached them... No, just extracted a bunch of dark something from the fibers.

When I had the interior gutted, I found a 1982 quarter under the rear seats of my 82 5 speed.
I took out the worthless fader control and mounted the polished 82 quarter where the **** had been.
Something a little different.

I had a hotel key and a bunch of change. Like you, I couldn't part with any of the change that was dated the same year as the car so I keep it in the ash tray.

When I pulled my seats to go through the switches, motors, drive cables and jack screws; I found:
A couple pens, a couple golf tees, 2 "Triborough Bridge Authority" toll tokens and enough change to pay for the few connectors and other odds and ends I needed to get the seats working correctly.

I read that on average $1.66 is found after shredding cars. Mine had a bottle of bad men's cologne that was obvious used for freshening up the cockpit. Windows open for months in the garage and it still lingers.

When I removed my passenger seat to have Alan install a remote unlocking system I found my Mont Blanc pen I thought was lost or stolen a few years earlier.

I was missing the cover for the parking brake cable and couldn't find one for sale for RHD.
When I pulled my carpet I found it. It was installed as Foot rest/Dead pedal
Managed to find a RHD foot rest for sale so now I'm complete

I found mostly sunflower seed shells, cigarette butts and small coins. I did find an actual dollar this weekend though. And you people said these cars wouldn't pay for themselves in time...

Race Car
In my '89 I found:
- Several hands full, no kidding, of change. Guessing the owner was taking/paying for tolls
- A set of keys, including house and 2 other cars.
- AA achievement coins. Guess the owner was a drinker. (Who wouldn't be owning a 928?)
- Misc. wrappers from drive thru's and other junk.
- More than a thousand dollars in stereo equipment that was/is now junk.
