The buyer is NOT responsible for any smog fees if it's staying in CA, the seller is. Not sure whether the expired CA registration means anything for an out of state sale, just don't get caught speeding on your way out of the state.

Looks like an ok car, dash/pod/steering wheel/right rear floor mat notwithstanding. What's up with the metal strap screwed to the crossbar underhood? Alarm horn mount?

no, the winning bidder backed out. Tried to get a PPI done, and and couldn't quite get a deal worked out. He did do a compression test, and it was good, but it was his mechanic.

I'm in FL, so there is no issues with smog checks.

Drew,
Not a bad price. Interior & engine bay look about right for stated miles.

I would ask if the AC works ?

It most likely will need a T-Belt, Wp, Fuel Lines, to begin with / be safe.

Wonder what happened to the missing lower front spoiler / air dam?

Not a bad looking car, will need some t l c.

A short while ago I was going south on 75 from Tampa & drove over to the Alpine in Sarasota for some lunch on the way home.

Never have so many pictures told so little. Ah, but they do tell something (just don't need 5 of the same position at a curb, sheesh): get a PPI, for thrust bearing. Seats look like 80K, and the dash, well it's been in the sun, you can live with it or spend a grand or so, just on that. Yeah, what's up w/ the sheet metal on the cross brace. I guess two screws in it don't affect the structural integrity, yes they do, but how much? I'd scrap the metal and get a new brace.

Between the dash and the steering wheel cover, I think you have some interior sun damage. I can't remember, are there any pics of the hatch interior.

Just b/c the other guy dropped out doesn't mean you have to pay his bid. Essentially all his bids are void and it's down to 2 and 3 to work it out.

I don't know your position, but it is big gamble to give $$ w/o a PPI or somebody independent putting eyes on it. Good luck.

I thought there was a gentleman selling a 87 w 80k miles for $8500 on here and he had
Records and a list of what needed to be done ... It seemed well sorted... Just my 2 ... I bought one with no records and it appeared clean it cost me a good amount to get her sorted.

Is it just me does the ABS fault light appear to be on in the video 131932 as her turns right? It goes out initially on startup (with a flicker) but appears to be on again as the car turns right...

I just found he's willing to take it to Precision Motor Works. I know now I'll get a informed PPI. I really appreciate all the input, truly helpful and knowledgeable group. I'm looking forward to keep using everyone to continue my 928 education.

The ghetto sheet metal would make me concerned what else has been "fixed" in a similar manner. I'd rather have an unmolested car in need of a lot of catchup and preventative maintenance, than deal with bodge maintenance by people who didn't research/fix the problem properly.

Also looks like it may be missing the front spoiler under the chin?

I've got a feeling about this one - and it ain't good. I'd pass.
It looks very tired on the inside, more than a few scratches on the outside, appears to be rust on the metal gas tank shroud underneath, bad pictures of the engine bay - no jump post cover, weird strap thing, broken rear wiper in wrong position. FL car, so all rubber bits in engine bay baked to glass, and a complete top end refresh will be in order very soon. And of course, an initial reluctance to allow a ppi. This one is priced too high for what you will get. For me, $8K would be the max, and I know I'd be putting 5 or 6 K into it in the first year.

Edit - not a FL car, still, check for supple rubber in engine bay.

I've seen quite a few better auto S4's at $8k. Nothing special on the options, plus the dubious-looking repairs.

And car aside, he's got a 94% rating.
