Not familiar with a bolt problem. I'm aware if the plastic bushing wearing out on a 911 but nothing about the 928. I've taken my off twice and no issues.

If you sit in the drivers seat and hold a mirror in front of the steering wheel you can see the nut quite clearly... you will know it when you see it.

I have enjoyed my car for the past 10 years, but have used it as a framework to exercise my creative urges. My car isn't worth much, never will be, and I don't care. I could take every cent I ever put in my car and buy a 2 year old Honda Accord, not much more. I think I'll keep what I've got, and maybe work on some new idea for the car...
Take care,

kenzie, I agree with you. Mine lost the concourse condition many years ago, but it is a dependable driver today. I can drive it, work on it, and enjoy it, Oh, and drive it.

The 928 sports steering wheel would rank as my best upgrade too. Not just the appearance and feel are better, but also the smaller diameter makes slightly more room for my knees

The second-best would be my 928intl short-shift lever (I have one of these in both my 928's - with shifter boots from Paul Champagne).

Beyond those two, the best "upgrades" have all been restoring factory function, like shifter linkage bushings, working AC, new bilsteins, engine mounts, knock sensors etc.

I have an x-pipe and koni/eibach suspension on one of my 928's and they're okay - it drives very nicely, but having done it once, I wouldn't bother again. In fact, I recently took my other x-pipe off the 87 S4 and put back the factory exhaust parts. Not a lot of difference in performance, and quieter commuting is nice, and with its new Bilsteins, its got a much more friendly ride for daily driving and passengers.

Have you happened to post any pictures of the front of your car with the truck lights? I can't seem to conjure up an image in my head of how the multi-component/black housing lights would compliment or argue with the 80s styling.

I think the styling is a nice accent. I also love the brightness! So much better.
