Default piece of heat shrink tubing fell down my dipstick tube

I have a 82 Euro S that I had put a little piece of heat shrink tubing over the dipstick top rubber seal to give a tight fit in the dipstick sleeve. I checked the oil last night and the tubing must have slipped off when I pulled the dipstick. If it fell in the oil pan what could happen? I know there is a screen around the uptake rubber baffle that should seal the top of the pan from the bottom where the pick up is. If I drain the oil the screen will keep the shrink tube from being able to exit the pan. Should I worry about it blocking something important? The shrink tubing is as big around as a pencil and about 1/2 inch long. Gunar

DO NOT START your car, hell I am not even sure if you should push it with that in the pan.
Just kidding, it will be ok until you do a MM/OPG job.

Maybe you can remove dip stick tube and see if the shrink tubing floats out with the oil or is in the tube? Messy but it might work.

Scared me for a second.... The MM/OPG job on it is less than a year old so maybe I'll find it someday. Gunar

I'm thinking the heat that little bit is going to see is gonna shrink it to nothing and it will get eaten in the filter.

I would remove the dipstick tube and see if the piece is inside it, if it was the OD of the dipstick it may not fall down the tube.
Remove the old O ring and install a new o ring on the dipstick

I drug a hooked end piece of wire along the inside of the tube but caught no fish.

Dear Gunar: You might jack up the car so that the drain plug is at the lowest point, and drain the oil..then use your piece of bent wire in the pan..other than that, you might have to go to harbour freight and get a cheap lighted borescope to find it and fish it out then...perhaps it will just come close enough to the drain hole so you can snag it. Good luck, tiger 03447
