Default Washer Tank: S3-> S4?

Running down my ticklist of inop/they all do that systems...

Thinking of tackling windshield/windscreen washer system. Main pump is inop. Have checked the fuse. Headlight system actually, works if you can believe that.

Have read the threads on rebuilding the pumps and on removing the metal collars from the tank.

I've been unable to locate a thread/specifics on abandoning the pump near the exhaust manifold in favor of the S4 setup with the pump mounted in the tank, but I'm thinking of going that route. Used S4 tank, new main pump, extend wires, anything I'm missing in terms of parts/procedures?

When I look at PET for 87, I see an external tank (not in-fender) is also shown...can this setup be retrofit? Guess that would require abandoning headlight syst?

Thanks
Steve

Just buy a used 87+ tank as the washer pump is embedded in the side of the tank - stop messing with the washer pump in the engine bay.
External tank is for intensive wash and was deleted later. Head Light washer pump is on the bottom of the in fender tank.
