Just a little over a year ago there was a 91 with 20-30K miles and the owner was asking ~21,000 dollars for it. Car is nice but for that kind of money it has to need nothing, all current maintenance.
It may be the picture but the rear hatch looks to be shifted to the left. Out of all the S4 models I think the 89 (non airbag digital dash) and 91 (last year for S4) are good buys.

The seller is probably just holding out for the highest price. It isn't that unusual for cars to be listed multiple times on eBay before finally selling. Also, while I am aware that with the internet, seasonality has a less significant effect on car sales than ever before, but I heard on CNBC that this winter has had a relatively negative impact on car sales... used and new. Not sure if this would pertain to cars like this one, but I'll bet that it does.

Somehow I overlooked that line about the full service history.

Even still I don't see it as >$30k car in today's market. I tend to agree w Roger, the day will come -- I'm just saying it's not yet here. But hey, all it takes is one person w a checkbook that cares more about that particular car then they do about $10k and I'm instantly wrong.

I wouldn't think it'd bring above $30k in the current market either, but 3 of 4 eBay listings in 30 days prove its easily a $20k+ to $25k 928 right now & it wouldn't take much to see it increase by 10%-20%. Certainly all industry info out there points that direction with the multiple recent published & public comments being made about the investment value of the 928. The problem for someone who'd be in the market for such a car but doesn't see that near future potential value is they'll be "sol" if they wait & the values do increase to that level. Good luck finding another one with what this car has to offer. It will always get back to simple supply and demand. And there ain't too many out there that would match up to a car like this if that's what floats your boat. I don't think all potential buyers of this car are looking at it purely as an investment to make money off of it one day.

Well, the Odessa one is an auto (Roger might pay more, but he's in the minority).

It also has 116k on the clock. Once that big, fat "1" appears, value plummets. It's purely psychological, but that doesn't make it less real.

And it's a private party. Not a "High End Exotic Dealer."
That makes a huge difference.

And $13k for a nice 91, even an auto, is a pretty good price.
Depending, of course, what a good PPI might find. That could skew the comparison a lot.

You can't even buy a 67-69 Mustang Coupe that is fully sorted with maybe a new crate motor and new quality paint for 20K and they made a million of these cars. Mustang Fastbacks go for an additional 15-20K or more.

Forget about a sorted old Charger, Challenger or Camaro for cheap money. Has anyone priced used cars lately, daily drivers that aren't POS foreign cracker boxes?

For the money, our cars are the most undervalued speciality cars out there.

You just got to find the right guy with money who wants a cool car that won't cost a ridiculous amount, they are out there.

But the car has to be completely sorted to get top money. Not these ads that claim that it "runs like a top" or all maintenance work completed. If you buy a car off eBay sight unseen, well you might get what you deserve.

Im selling my completely sorted 82 soon and I know there is interest out there for these cars and at prices beyond what is considered realistic on this forum. Not project cars, but ready to go, no maintenance required cars.

The Odessa car turned up on my driveway last week - new customer and DFW member bought it. Awesome car but has a ton of deferred maintenance. Absolute bargain purchase at $13000 or maybe less.
The car is worth $20k as it stands to the right buyer - all maintenance up to date may fetch high $20's. It is all about who you market it to. Putting a car on craigslist is for bottom feeders (me included) and those bargains will be fewer and fewer as every month passes by.
What is up with you guys - WHY do you all want the values to go down - I cannot get my head around that.

My logic is why buy a car and then invest >50% of the purchase price in correcting deferred maintenance when you could just spend twice as much and get a car that is much nicer in every way (cosmetically, one owner, etc.)?

I didn't read all the comments about this car, but I got the jist of it. As always every 928, that comes up for sale, people on this forum pick it apart, and y'all wonder why our cars don't fetch higher prices!

Did it ever occur to you folks that maybe we aren't the only people that read this forum?

I didn't know anything about a 928 till I bought my 87. I bought it because of the way it looked.

If I had known about this forum, and the way y'all pick apart every car that's up for sale, I never would have bought the 1st one.

I think it would be prudent, to keep the negative comments to ourselves, and wish the seller all the luck in the world getting his asking price. As the cars for sale rise in value, what do think our cars will be worth?

Just because I didn't know about this forum, doesn't mean that others haven't done their due diligence.
