928S or S2?
Looking at this early manual 928 on EBAY.

Just wondering whether this can possibly be an 'S' and not an 'S2' since it's a 1984 model. Unfortunately there's no engine bay pictures. Are there any interior/exterior cues?

The registration date was late 84 so unless it was sitting on the show room floor for a long time more than likely an S2. An engine pic would tell all.
Someone removed the two side parts of the rear spoiler - possible because of corrosion and had it painted - check with a magnet.

Lack of ext antenna in back and newer style seats would tend to indicate S2 (possibly an 85) Older/lesser style speakers ?? Many 84's still have older style pistons so the year is a mixed bad anyways along with older chip in brain. -------------- My guess on the pics an 84, vin would say for sure. Nice color.
