Josh, great back story, brings back a lot of similar times with my own father ( alias no Porsche's, but a Rambler, Corvair, and Impala that were freebies he picked up and went to me after a lot of bondo and wrenching).
Keep us posted on your progress can't wait to see the finished project. What color are you leaning toward for the repaint?

Thx guys, change my mind almost daily about the color. I think some of the darker colors are more sexy (dark blue, charcoal, etc). But also think a lighter color would set off the black interior nicely (gulf blue, metallic copper). I have a feeling the color choice will be determined the day it gets painted....

Or wrapped perhaps.

Platinum metallic colour paint really makes the lines pop on these cars.

Search around for some examples.

A few years ago a guyt was in a similar rebuild scenario as you and went with that colour paint - it turned out fantastic. Perhaps someone can find those old threads from here.

unfortunately his girlfriend was a psycho and totally trashed the car.

It wasn't because she found out he was spending more on it monthly...then her annually...was it?

Just asking...not that I'm worried about such things myself.

(Note to self...as a precautionary measure...add a lock to the garage door)

Josh:
What an amazing job, and thanks so much for the detailed write up and photos.
Could you please tell me what type of adhesive you used to attach the interior carpet
to your DynaMat insulation?

Thanks !!!!
Dan

Thx Daniel , I used Weldwood contact cement in the red can, it can be found on Amazon in large quantity, probably used a full quart for the carpet kit

Excellent restoration A+ ! I like that you changed out the front seats. I had 968 seats in one of my 928's they were so much more comfortable than the stock seats.

Default Timesert repair

Like a dumb-*** I rushed before reading and applied spec torque for a 10mm bolt to the 8mm bracket bolt (lowest-left (sitting in the car) : lowest-right (in the picture) and stripped the block.

Installed a timesert, easy job but for me a very scary job.

Northern oriented paint mark means torqued to spec! Whoo hoo!

Not a lot of progress this weekend, but Im satisfied to have the repair completed correctly and without incident.

nice job your doing here.
I was wondering since you never answered ,
but did you remove the metal collars for your new washer tank and fill tube?

If not they should be removed as they will rust.
these parts are not necessary,
just make sure to only snug the transition tube clamps.

Glad that you fixed the stripped bolt,
be aware there is another bolt that is used to anchor the air pump and AC ,
it has the same sized bolt that you stripped .
This is also a common bolt that gets stripped out

Looked like solid rubber motor mount, not aluminum. Don't worry folks! Nice build!
