Default 93 GTS - Whats it Worth ?

I have just looked at a 93 GTS - Midnight Blue auto with no rubs and approx. 97,000 miles. Couple of photos attached. The car has definitely seen better days. Interior is pretty rough. Owner states the car was once red and has been repainted - but the only panel that was definitely once red is the Drivers side fender. Original color is midnight blue for sure as indicated by the sticker in the door jam. There are plenty of scuffs and scratches on most panels and two rust spots (passenger door jam & bottom of rear quarter window) though in general it does seem to be pretty straight, it is unclear how many panels hold original paint. All the usual deferred maintenance. At lease one accident on Carfax back in 2007. This is for sure a fixer but not sure of the value. I am into a fixer but not sure if this may be a little too much. Any advice or opinions appreciated. What would be a fair price to pay ? Is it worth getting into ?

Usual deferred maintenance with interior that needs work sounds like 10 k at least to put right IMHO.

Do you know if it's an early 93?
As later in the year they did some improvements.

Good looking car, depending on what your end goals are, stock or custom GTS would also come into play.

Don't think they really made any significant improvements until the '94 model, then some of them still had the Cup I wheels and R1 rods. Something like a Sept/Oct '93 build before all the '94's had all the improvements.

Thanks Tony,
Yes I might be interested but it looks like the car has been tracked, will need front seats, the dash is cracked, that rust spot at the door sill indicates probably more rust problems hidden underneath.
BUT it is a GTS.

It's worth what you think its worth. Assuming you want to make it a reliable DD, what does it need? Subtract that from what you can comfortably pay. Is that a number you would offer and appear serious to the seller? There is no shame is saying, "This is what I have available at this time, will you consider $_________?
You don't state what he is asking for it. And all the info you provide us concerns bodywork, not mechanicals. Very hard to gestimate based on what you provide here.

If the Carfax is clean and you don't mind work, I would guess $15-20k. Nicely presented (which probably includes a good respray), and with a TB, WP etc, I'd say it's ~$35-40k.

I would want a thorough PPI, especially with signs of rust.

P.S. Midnight blue is a really nice colour.

This color combo is actually one of my favorites - As far as mechanicals go, everything works except any of the AC - no heat or cold. No knowledge of Tbelt or any other maintenance, except the odd oil change. Owner is asking $28K - which I think is WAYYYY to much. I was thinking exactly on the same lines as rnixon - if it were in really good shape with that many miles maybe 35k-40K. I think at anywhere between 15K & 20K it may be worth getting into but I just can't see any more than that.

A 100k mile GTS probably tops out in upper 20s, so agree that after suitable condition and deferred maintenance adjustments this car is far below that number.

I thought some of the early model changes were on the pcv system Gary, the first production runs only had cam cover breathers on the left side cam cover, I thought that changed to both sides towards the end if the first year.
Maybe we can find out exactly when that happened.

I wonder if this is the same midnight blue metallic GTS that was being parted on eBay... and resurfaced as having an S4 motor and some other parts from same donor S4 (perhaps red)? Or was that one cobalt blue?

It was from the Northeast IIRC -and the rust on a galvanized body immediately made me think Northeast.

What's the last 4 of the VIN? At least according to the Registry, there's only one 1993 U.S. Midnight Blue automatic with black/cashmere interior, and it's not an early '93, it comes after my "late" '93 GTS, which has an 08/92 born-on date.
