Man, $1450.. thats a good buy.

Between the gearbox, clutch and other "auto to manual conversion" parts, headlights, the heated sports seats, and NLA ABS sensors, not to mention the rest of the car, there's no downside risk.

If it can be made to run cheaply, then there's a stack of smiles in there too.

Fingers crossed it was bought by someone here and we'll get to find out whether the motor is seized or not and get an experienced appraisal and run-down on the state of it after 18 years sitting in a field.

+1 I hope it wasn't bought to be parted. (unless that's the only option, i.e. too far gone)

Looks like the person who bought it is putting back on eBay. Better bigger pictures now, too far gone imo.

Whoever decides to buy it, make sure the engine number is correct and it spins freely the full 360 degrees. Engine bay looks really rough like they pulled it out of a river.

I think flood car is a good hunch. Too bad. Rebuildable bilstiens and elevated hub wheel...seats nfg I expect.

If its been submerged the the engine internals and possibly the transmission internals are toast. The rest of it may be good for an auto to manual conversion project.
The best thing would be for someone to go check it out in person before buying it.

I don't see a single salvageable part on it.

Question

So I'm looking at the EBAY photos of this 928, and I see the interior/ dashboard
photo. I have never seen anything like that.
It looks like a rhinoceros sat on it!
Just out of curiosity...

Is this where the dash typically cracks/separates anyway?

On my car, it seems like the dash and glove box are actually fairly well supported right there???

Those cracks seem like they are in the typical places. At least I think so.

They often run from the defroster vents down.

It just looks like that particular dash was really trashed. Maybe flooded, maybe just sitting outside in the sun for a long, long time. So the foam in the dash separated from the dash itself and curled up. The top of the glove box looks straight.
So I don't think a rhino sat on it.

Maybe fishies or chipmunks were nibbling on it.

Sad. There might be a (very) few parts on it that are usable. I wouldn't trust anything electrical, given all the corrosion. The Euro intake might be savable, depending on how bad the corrosion is.

No it didn't. Look at the new add. Winning bid was 1,450 on the original Ebay add, starting bid was 928 dollars. Now whoever who bought it has put it back up for $1,500 starting bid.

Mark,

If this thing was under water the cams are useless. Maybe the heads can be salvageable.
