Recently picked up a Wimbledon green 928 GTS from Willhoit (Mike was great). Had the car shipped to CA Beverly Hills Porsche so I could use it on vacation. Could not believe the reaction at the dealership and the rest of the trip. People just love the car it prompted so many conversations with complete strangers. and an awesome drive.
Being that I'm 6'1" mostly from the waste up I was wondering if there was anything to be done with the seat to get a little more headroom without major mods.
Thanks in advance

Make sure the seat is in the rear-most pair of mounting holes in the mount, though that's not going to buy you much additional headroom, maybe 1/4" or so. There's really not much gain to be had without modifying the seat, or losing the sunroof, neither of which is a good idea on a Wilhoit-worthy GTS....

Congrats on the purchase. Michael is a good guy - bought a couple of Porsches from him including my GTS. Make sure you have the back of the seat bottom in the lowest position and then raise the portion under your thighs. If that does not work for you, consider swapping the seats or removing the sunroof. I would recommend swapping the seats to a pair from a 987 and keeping the originals for resale.

Congrats on the aquisition- assuming it may be an automatic and not withstanding that Willhoit has a great reputation for immaculately presented examples, I have no idea how much they [or you for that matter] know about TBF [thrust bearing failure] phenomena-just make sure that adequate measures have been taken to lock the flex plate clamp and thus protect your motor againt thrust bearing failure [invariably a terminal condition on 32V automatic variants when it happens].
I have no desire to spoil your enjoyment of your new car and we look forward to seeing some pics ASAP- but if you are new to 928 ownership you may not know about this absurd but all too prevalent issue.
If the car is a manual tranny- forget this pre-empt and simply enjoy. If it is an automatic research the many threads on this list defining the problem and the available solutions. Indeed check with Willhoit whether they do anything in this regard when they take in an automatic 928- they should know by now.
Otherwise many congrats and may you have many years of pleasure with your purchase.

Congrats on your fringe colored GTS and would love to see pics posted here. Step 1: Purchase a set of manual 928 or 997 sport seats and gain 2" of headroom. Step 2: Store the original comfort seats. Step 3: Reinstall the original comfort seats when you sell the car (someday). Step 4: Sell the sport or 997 sports seats for pretty much what you paid for them.02 T

The GTS special colors are pretty cool. Yours might be the only Wimbledon green 928 in North America, can't recall hearing of another one. If you're in Southern California there a couple of the best 928 experts right there to check everything over and make sure your thrust bearing and engine fuel lines, just to name two things, are in good condition.

rop3,
Congratulations, and I can see why the guys at BH Porsche were 'gaga' over your new ride. I'm sure you'll enjoy both driving it and receiving many compliments on it.
If you haven't already done so, check out the 928 Owners Club - worldwide club for aficionados for this classic great grand touring car - and the GTS is the ultimate in grand touring! Web site is: www.928OC.org
I've had my GTS for 9 years, and have enjoyed every mile I've put on it (about 18K). Been driving 928's as my 'fun car' for nearly 20 years (one of which was purchased by Julia Roberts at BH Porsche in 1988).
Enjoy the CA vacation - we are headed out there for a few days next weekend.

Thanks for all the info, Yes it's a stick the one with dark green leather and red piping. Bringing it back to NJ.
Fred R- Thanks for the info
JHoffman,77Tony- That helps I have a 997gt3rs (manual seats) and a 997 turbo cab (power seats). So that should be an easy test, I assume the powered ones will sit higher in the car. One CA shop told me he had an upholstery guy that could shave an inch off the foam seat cushion, and it would not be a visible mod? 997 seats are comfortable If I could get them covered in a matching green leather that would be interesting.
i'll post some photos, thanks again.

rop3,
IF nothing else works, you could always get a pair of 911, 944, 968 seats from the '90's era. These do not have as much padding, or the center 'puff' upholstery. Thus, I think they sit about an inch or more lower (had some in an '88 track car for a while).
You could have Rob Budd upholster them to match the current seat colors and piping, saving the OE GTS seats for whenever 'sale' time comes about.
