True there are some scams out there, one turned good...
I was searching for a particular car/color, found a post low price, was a scam, was able to trace the vin back to the original owner who still had the car and agreed to sell it.

rop3 saw an ad that listed a car that he was looking for and the VIN was also listed. Turned out the ad was listed by a scammer. However, given the VIN, he was able to track down the REAL owner who agreed to sell the car to him. Is it really that hard to understand?

Yeah that's what happened lol... not that complicated.
The real owner reluctantly listed his car on ebay in early 2014 not a web trusting guy but created an ebay account just for the sale. Had a buyer for 12k, ebay listed as sold, deal fell thru he never relisted the car again.
The scammer listed the car for 8k this year, when I contacted the real owner him he was really caught off guard a little paranoid but agreed to sell the car very low mileage 944 cabrio dealer serviced and documented for the last 24 years, albeit for lot more than his 2014 sale.
The scammer sent a subsequent e-mail the car was in Portugal death in family etc. etc.
Point of the story there are scams out there but in this case the scam led me to a car I have been looking searching for for some time. I know kind of off post from the original 928.

"Yes, Reginald, please try to stay within the lines, the other children will follow your example and the whole room will be chaos."
See post 58: Randy asked "Where is the car now" Where is the car now?
