Hi!

I´m trying to get the HVAC-unit under the dash out of the car and I follow the WSM-intructions but when I get to....

19.Withdraw heater-air conditioner

...theres no way it will come out. What am I missing in the procedure?

In step 16 it says "Remove mounting plate". My interpretation of this is the metalplates held by the nuts and there out. Can I also remove the plastic "collar"?

Did you remove the screws from the bottom of the HVAC system? They hold a plate that holds it against the firewall.

When I did it, the box just fell in my lap. I also removed the wiper assembly for clearance.

I would also recommend disconnecting the vacuum servos and removing the metal plate on the front of the box as the vacuum lines can hang up the removal of the system.

Now it's out but it didn't come without a fight. My problems was the ignition and two bolts on the TT tunnel. And I had missed to losen the hoses at the back. ☺️

With a little to much violence for my comfort I got it out without any damages.

 

I had to turn the assembly that holds the ignition switch out of the way on mine. I didn't have ant bolts on the TT tunnel.

I think the box changed after 83 as I have an 81 and I know they are a little different.
