Hey, sorry for the multiple posts here.
I keep forgetting additional points that I wanted to make...
I've been meaning to ask - what protection is most needed from a car cover? It seems like sun is the worst problem - cracked dashboards, faded paint, baked interiors. If you live downwind of a cement plant, protection from nasty dirt would be important, but perhaps not otherwise (everyone avoided the acid pickling shed where I worked.). Water damage, if a problem at all, might be made worse by a cover if it traps moisture and dries more slowly than the naked car would. (In many areas, the greatest exposure is to dew, not rain.)
Yes. All of those things, for sure. But also don't forget bird and tree droppings.
At our old house, the back of our driveway was underneath some very large Dogwood trees.
So whenever I had to move (sometimes push) one of my cars out of the garage, it sat directly under them.
Those trees produce red berries, which disintegrate and fall as mushy, red, staining blobs.
What's worse, the birds sit in those trees, eat the berries, and apparently simultaneously crap them out.
What an unbelievable mess for an automobile. The cover did it's job and certainly earned it's keep.
(BTW, the trees were deemed "too beautiful" for my wife to allow me to just eliminate them).

You might try www.itscoolinhere.com. There cool caps really work and I think they offer full car covers too. This will project your interior from the obnoxious heat as well as project your car. I've had mine for more than a year and swear by it.

Spoke with Gert at this company and they supposedly make them for the 928. I had one of these for my 993 and it was really nice. Going to order one for the 928 and will let you know how it fits

I'm a fan of Coverking Triguard. Never used it outside for long periods, but it's a great dual purpose cover. It has some thickness to it, so gives a little bit of ding protection. It's super light weight, and folds up well for smaller storage footprint. It's pretty cheap as well.
