Default Anyway to find out the build month?

I'm having the door jam VIN sticker reproduced, the original was removed long before my ownership when the car was painted in 1997.

Other than getting a certificate of authenticity from Porsche, is there any way to find out the build month?

Isn't it listed on a sticker on the rear section of the driver side door jam after opening the door? Mine says 10/86 which I assume is the build date.

I think he means the actual day on which the car was born. COA is the only way. I researched this a while back when my car was turning 30 in October 2013. COA was the only way to get the actual build date from what I was finding. I did not buy one, but from what others have posted, COAs have been questionable in terms of accuracy with respect to options and vehicle details.

Oh okay; if I found that out, I'd be putting candles on new car parts every day that year my car lands on it.

Sorry, to clarify it's just the build month. Just so the repro is as accurate as possible.

Porsche will supply you with a replacement sticker for the door jam. I've ordered several, over the years.

I have tried at the local dealer, no dice so far.

Ok, so I take it there is no other way to find out the build month?

Other than a new sticker from Porsche or a COA.

The dealer has been very helpful, they have put the request in more than once and have not received any response from Germany. At least that's what they told me. They are the most helpful dealer around, the other two PAFF and Downtown Porsche are less willing.

If there is anyone else with an 87 with a vin close to mine, that might be the easiest way to figure out the build month.

Some 928’s have hidden annotations from the factory workers. I found the the date 28-5-89 scribbled under the center arm rest.

Have you checked the build sticker back in the hatch (the one that lists the option codes)?
I'm not sure if the build month/year is listed there also (haven't checked mine in awhile...).

BTW, I meant to mention that my 87 is 1541, so substantially later than yours.

With enough posts of vins we can probably narrow it down. My earliest 87 is 1315 and built in Jan 87. Your car was likely built in September or October 86, since they started production in July.

Or, perhaps by some analogy, one of my 88s is number 0757 and was built in October 87.

I ordered one from the dealer (Lauzon Porsche in Laval) a few years back for my 1987.
